It is understood that Blackburn Rovers could be about to open talks with El Hadji Diouf about a move to Ewood Park.

The 28-year-old has been linked with Rovers since his former Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce arrived at Ewood, but to date Sunderland have denied that he would be leaving the Stadium of Light just six-months after arriving from Bolton. However, Sky Sports News understands that the Senegalese International is open to the move and Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia could sanction such a deal?

Meanwhile Roque Santa Cruz is again quoted as voicing his desire to leave Rovers to sign for Manchester City.

Allardyce remains unmoved on his thoughts that the Paraguayan won’t be leaving Ewood, but if Santa Cruz wants to go if we can get anything approaching £20 million then we have to let him go as what’s the point of keeping someone that doesn’t really want to be at the club?!?! A move for Hadji Diouf is only likely to enhance the chances of Santa finally getting his move to Man City.
