El Hadji Diouf has been the subject of debate this morning with uncertainty over his Blackburn Rovers future.

Diouf has been on loan at Scottish club Rangers for the last few months after falling behind Junior Hoilett in the pecking order at Ewood Park.

Rangers have been offered the chance to take up the final year of his Rovers contract at the end of the season but Kean doesn’t know if they will… leaving him with the prospect of returning to Lancashire to fight for his place.

It has come to light though that Diouf left as he didn’t fancy sitting on his behind while Junior Hoilett came to prominence.

Kean told the BBC – ‘Hence the reason why he went on loan to Rangers.’

‘But he has one year left of his deal, so I don’t know if Rangers will want to take up the last year of his contract.’

Controversy has always followed Diouf round his footballing career but Kean was complimentary of the Senegalese marmite man’s attitude.

However he is in the dark as to whether he would want to come back.

But Kean commented – ‘He was always a good lad and always worked hard.

‘The thing that was going to be difficult for El Hadji was we’ve got a young lad here, Junior Hoilett, who is a talent and I wanted to play Junior.

‘And I said to El Hadji, you are not going to play as much as you normally do, and he is at a stage of his career where he wanted to play.

‘I don’t know if he will want to come back.’
