Blackburn midfielder Connor Mahoney could leave Ewood Park at the end of the season with it reported he’s yet to commit to the offer of a new contract.

The Sun has claimed Mahoney has been offered a new £3,000 a week contract to prolong his Blackburn career but the academy graduate has so far failed to sign the deal.

Mahoney’s lack of involvement was frustrating for most but his impressive showing against Manchester United in the FA Cup would have seen potential suitors sit up and take notice – Tony Mowbray has used the 20 year old regularly since his arrival, albeit from the bench.

His future could depend on Blackburn staying in the Championship?

The future of Hope Akpan was also questioned by the Sun too with it reported several clubs in the MLS had shown an interest in the former Everton and Reading midfielder placing his long-term Rovers career in doubt.

Barnsley, previously credited with an interest in Mahoney, are apparently ready to sign Welsh youth international Ben Williams following the clubs decision not to offer him a professional deal.

Rovers brought Williams to Ewood from Preston but the 18 year old doesn’t feature in the clubs future plans so Championship rivals Barnsley could snap him up on a free.
