Jonathan Douglas has become the first Rovers player to leave Ewood Park on what may prove to be a busy day of transfer activity after all, leaving for Championship side Leeds United.

The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland International had a loan spell with Leeds last season and a permanent move seemed likely, however he returned to Rovers and featured heavily in pre-season.

It appeared that Douglas could still have a future under Hughes but his move today proves otherwise. He has signed a three-year deal at Elland Road for an undisclosed fee. Speaking on the official Leeds United website Douglas said:

I need to play regularly if that happens here then I’ll be delighted.”

I really enjoyed my time at Leeds last season and this move will give me some stability.”

Good luck, you’ll be missed I’m sure as International quality players are not always easy to replace.
