Duff Dreads A Repeat Performance

Former Blackburn Rovers winger Damien Duff is worried about suffering relegation from the Premier League for the second time in his career.

Duff is part of the Newcastle United squad that is battling relegation this season (having suffered this with Rovers in 1999) and the Republic of Ireland International in fearful of relegation happening again and he doesn’t want a repeat of the lowest point of his career. However, Duff is using his relegation during his time with Rovers as inspiration to help motive him.

Duff told Sky Sports: “I got relegated with Blackburn. I’m not sure how many of the other lads in the dressing room have, but it’s not a nice feeling to have, and it was the lowest point of my career.

“I don’t want it to happen again, so I will be doing everything I can – and I’m sure the other lads will as well – to keep us up.

Personally I’ve been waiting for Newcastle to escape the relegation zone but this just isn’t happening and I’m not sure that it will, with or without Duffer being as motivated as he says he is?!?!

However, so long as it’s not us that goes down I don’t really care who it is, however, as I’ve always had a lot of time for Duffer (and Alan Shearer) I’d not want him to have to go through relegation again, but I’d rather it was them than us if it had to be one or the other!!! The League table doesn’t lie over 38 matches though does it so those that finish in the bottom three will deserve this won’t they.
