Blackburn Rovers have revealed that David Dunn will be offered a new contract to tie him down to a deal that could see him end his career at Ewood Park.

Dunn returned to Rovers in January 2007, and although his current contract isn’t due to expire until 2010 chairman John Williams has confirmed that we are keen to give him an extended and improved contract when the transfer window closes.

Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. “David wants to stay with us, and we want to keep him.

“He’s had a short discussion with the manager, and when the transfer window closes, I’m sure we’ll sort it out.

“But it’s not an urgent matter. David’s still got the best part of two years to run on his contract.

Paul Ince has praised Dunny and echoed Williams’ thought, also saying that ANYONE who performs is likely to be offered the same sort of treatment (an improved/extended contract.)

Ince added: “He has done ever so well. From day one he has been a leader.

“Dunny is a local lad and everyone looks up to him. I gave him the responsibility of being vice-captain and he has taken it on board.

“If any player performs well, whether it is Dunny or anyone else, then we will look to see if we can extend their contract.

“But first and foremost we need to get the next couple of games out of the way.

Meanwhile three of Rovers’ younger players have been issued first team squad numbers by Incey.

Midfield duo Bryan Hodge (who spent most of last season on loan with Millwall, and looked like leaving) has been given number 31, Alex Marrow number 37 and forward Marcus Marshall number 36.
