Reports of a Blackburn Rovers bid for former star David Dunn has been confirmed once and for all, by the player himself, and such a return would interest him… at some point.

With the midfield area being one of the most hotly talked about areas of the side that NEEDS strengthening Mark Hughes was reported to have made a late deadline day bid of £2 million to Birmingham City to try and lure the former England International back to Ewood Park. Dunn would say:

I am a Blackburn fan, everyone knows that, and I think in the future maybe I would fancy it.”

The biggest thing for me is that I’m a bit of a home bird. I’m down here all week on my own; I would like to be back up near my family at some point, certainly near my little girl.”

Such statements would hint that the Birmingham midfielder would jump at the chance to return to his former club, he would finish by taking a backwards step however:

If you put anyone in that position, I think they would understand. It wouldn’t be a financial thing, it wouldn’t be a football thing, it would be purely and simply to be near my family and daughter.”

Not that I wanted to go when they came in. I wasn’t trying to make it happen and I do want to stress I’m totally focused here at Birmingham.”

The transfer didn’t come off, so I’m not really too worried about it.”

The injury worries that have plagued the 26-year-old for most of his time at St Andrews since his £5.5 million move in 2003 are seen as the main reason a lot of fans would not want Dunn back at the club, another worry, as I pointed out when the deadline day bid was first spoken about would be the worry that returning to a former club isn`t always the best thing to do.
