Rovers youth team captain Ryan Edwards has agreed a new two year deal at Rovers – his first professional deal to boot.

Edwards has been inspired in the Rovers Youth’s march to the FA Youth Cup final (which sadly looks inevitable to end in defeat) and his form has been attracting a few unwelcome glares from other Premier League sides.

As a result the bigwigs have been keen to tie him down to the side with Rovers being the player’s first choice by some distance.

Sky Sports is reporting – ‘Blackburn youngster Ryan Edwards has agreed a professional contract at Ewood Park.

Edwards has been a stand-out performer for Rovers in their march to the final of the FA Youth Cup.

The 18-year-old has impressed in central defence alongside Jack O’Connell and his performances have not gone unnoticed with rival Premier League clubs keeping tabs on his situation.

Edwards is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Ewood Park and club owners Venky’s have been keen to secure the teenager’s future rather than risk losing him.

The accomplised defender has now agreed a two-year deal at Blackburn and he is expected to be pushing for a place in the first-team next season.’

Well done Mr Edwards.
