With Blackburn Rovers’ injury list still some way off fully easing we may get one boost for the encounter with Premiership pacesetters Manchester United tomorrow.

Brett Emerton, having picked up an injury a couple of weeks back could return for evening kick off with United on Saturday but is rated as “touch and go” by Rovers boss Mark Hughes.

With the Australian International being in such fine form this season in his unaccustomed position at right-back his injury setback was the latest in a number of injuries to key personnel, but all being well he might return tomorrow? Hughes said this on Thursday:

Brett trained today. We had hoped to have him back in training with the group earlier, but he has had a session now and we are going to wait and see if he gets a reaction.

He was playing exceptionally well just prior to his injury and the team was playing well so we need all our senior players back.”

Key senior personnel are definitely needed for Rovers especially against the likes of United! With only a day or so training behind him though maybe this game may come too soon?
