Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Peter Enckelman is keen on making his loan switch to Cardiff City a permanent move this summer.

Enckelman made the loan move to Cardiff in January (having been almost forgotten at Ewood Park) and he has enjoyed his time a great deal. As he prepares to play in the FA Cup Final the 31-year-old Finn has hinted that he would like to make his move to Cardiff a permanent thing in the summer.

Enckelman the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: “Cardiff gave me the chance to kick-start my career.

“There were moments when I found it difficult to motivate myself when I knew I would not be in the matchday 16 at Blackburn. Maybe I needed a new challenge – and that was provided by Cardiff.”

“I am focused on playing football and leave all contract details to my agent.

“He will let me know when there is something certain, but right now I am concentrating on preparing for the FA Cup final
.”

I don’t see a reason why he can’t complete a permanent move to Cardiff as he doesn’t have a future at Ewood does he?!?!

  • There is no point keeping Enckelman any longer, as he wasn’t even making the substitutes bench when he was here anyway, so for him as well as us a permanent move seems the right thing to do, and the fairest thing.

  • yeah u cant blame him for wanting 2 move on. hes bin loyal 2 us and never moaned about being number 2 (and number 3!). good luck 2 him

  • good luck to him, he bided his time with us, couldnt get a start, time to move on, wish him the very best

  • I feel sorry for anyone who has to act as backup to Brad Friedel. They have’nt a hope in hell of taking his spot.
Enkleman’s not a bad keeper though, surprised he came here to act as backup in the first place, he could have got regular football elsewhere in the Premiership. Anyway I wish him all the best at Cardiff.

  • I agree with Spinaker, Enkleman is a decent keeper but not good enuff to dislodge Brad, so I wish him all the best at Cardiff and its not as if Rovers dont have enuff back-up keepers at the club lol
