Blackburn Rovers legend Matt Jansen, who is currently out of the game (and has been for some time) isn’t in a hurry to return to it, if he does at all?!?!

Jansen, who at 30-years of age is be no means past it in terms of his age ability to play football again, but having suffered from a lot of injury problems and loss of form and confidence (which all began after his horrific motorbike accident in 2002) isn’t currently involved in the game and although he hasn’t officially announced his retirement he doesn’t seem in a hurry to play again anytime soon.

Jansen told the Lancashire Telegraph: “Life’s pretty hectic at the moment.

“I’m doing bits of property, and I’m also learning currency trading.

“I’m getting to know more and more about it on a course, and it’s something I’m really getting stuck into.

“I’m still keeping myself fit. I’m enjoying spending time with my family. I’ve got another one on the way, so I’ll have my work cut out then!

Jansen, who suffered his accident in Italy in the summer of 2002 because he narrowly missed out on selection for England’s 2002 World Cup Squad does have options to get back into the game but doesn’t feel he has been able to do himself justice over the past few years and as he is also lacking the required hunger for the game has decided to stay away from it, and might not return?

He added: “I’ve got options but, at the moment, there are no immediate plans to get back into football.

“Everybody pretty much knows my history. I just didn’t feel comfortable not being as good as I was.

“I signed a contract with Bolton and they offered me another one.

“But I thought I wasn’t doing myself justice, so I ended up opting out and having some time away.

“You need the desire and the hunger to succeed, whereas I was getting up in the morning and not enjoying going to work.

“With a break – however long – I might get that hunger back and have itchy feet again, so who knows.

“That’s why I’m keeping myself reasonably fit. I know I can’t leave it too long, but we’ll see what happens.

“At the moment, I’m enjoying time with my family. Bringing up kids is a lot harder work than you think – and so is getting nagged by the wife!

He admitted that he misses the after match buzz and the time spent with his team-mates (but does keep in touch with many of his former Rovers ones), as well as admitting that he EVEN misses training!!! However, Jansen is working towards his coaching badges and currently holds an FA Preliminary Coaching Badge, and will work towards others in time as that could eventually be his route back into the game

I have looked into the coaching side of things.

“I’ve got my preliminary badge already which I completed when I was younger.

“I have that interest in me as well, and I probably will get into it, because you’ve always got it then.

“But I’m only 30 – so I just don’t know.

It looks as though Jansen’s career as a professional football is over, but maybe just maybe he will one day return to Ewood, not as a fan, nor as a player but as a coach, maybe even as our manager?!?! Whatever his future does hold I know that I personally wish him nothing but the best of luck and success.
