The chances are Tom Lawrence isn’t going to be anywhere near the Blackburn squad as the Euros approach next summer, are looking slim with his loan only running until January.

At which time ‘rumour has it’ he’ll have either returned to Leicester or made a move to Spain with Valencia or join another Premier League side with Swansea and Bournemouth showing an interest.

Now former Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer hoped to keep the Leicester loanee beyond January and I dare so the new boss will also want to extend former Man United youngster Lawrence’s loan too?

We’ll find out in time if this happens but he’s been speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the Wales friendly with Holland on Friday.

The expectancy is the 21-year-old will be given his first start for Wales, which if he is he hopes to repay the faith shown in him by former Blackburn defender, his Welsh boss, Chris Coleman, saying.

‘If the manager decides to pick me I’ll be ready to put on a shirt and give my all for the team. Hopefully I can deliver if I am picked.

‘I felt my performance against Andorra was good and players in this squad have shown before they can step in and do well when others are injured.’

His longer-term goal is to then make the final squad going to Euro 2016.

Lawrence added this will only come if he ‘performs as well he can’ for his club, whatever club that might be in the New Year!

‘Making the squad for France is always in the back of your mind, it would be massive for me and my family. You’ve just got to perform as well as you can for your club and hopefully you’ll be in contention for France.’
