When Roy Keane left Manchester United, it was rumoured that Mark Hughes might be interested in signing the Irish Hard Man. But Sparky was quick to squash these rumours with the statement that Blackburn Rovers already had a thirty-year old plus midfield dynamo in Turkey’s Tugay Kerimoglu. But it seems he doesn’t.

Plagued more and more by injuries Tugay is less likely to feature any game for the full 90 minutes. Many Rovers know that when Tugay plays well so do the Rovers!

We have seen many reports and Mark has been very active in the marketplace during the open season but the departure of Bellamy meant that he had to concentrate on getting the strike force right. However, he is yet to find a replacement for the combative Turk. So who does that leave?

The usual rumour of David Dunn returning to Ewood as surfaced, Robbie Savage (love him or hate him) doesn’t do a lot more than expend energy, Steven Reid, whilst being big and strong just isn’t a playmaker, Emerton has dropped to right-back, Gamst, Pete, Gally and Bentley are all too young as it’s an old man’s role!

Does Hughesy lay awake at night worrying about this, just like I do? Unfortunately I can’t see Rafa swapping Stevie G for Lucas…
