Rovers legendary goalkeeper Brad Friedel, who currently plays for Aston Villa, has been declared bankrupt at Macclesfield County Court after left facing a massive tax bill.

The bankruptcy comes in conjunction with his Ohio Football Academy, set up during his time at Ewood Park and after a lot of commercial sponsorship fell through it left Brad facing an uphill battle to pay the bills.

A whooping £5 million is what Brad owed by time of the order made today.

Brad is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying – “It`s set up as a non-profit business. I don`t make any money on it.”

A spokesman for Friedel added in the same publication – “This is a technical bankruptcy and it is not anticipated that it will be in place for long, as an application for an annulment will be submitted in the next few days.

‘Arrangements are in place to deal with the issues which gave rise to the bankruptcy.”

Poor Brad, good luck sorting this out.
