The Blackburn run in the FA Cup is continuing for at least one more round after the fourth round win against Oxford at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

A comfortable three-nil win over Oxford, who had beaten Swansea in the third round, was secured by Blackburn with debutant Tony Watt among the goalscorers.

Ben Marshall put Blackburn ahead 10-minutes before half time from the penalty spot after Simeon Jackson, one of those who will be looking to fill the sizable void being left by Jordan Rhodes, had been fouled.

This lead was doubled by debutant Tony Watt in first half injury-time to leave Rovers in control at the break. There was no doubting the win would be Blackburn’s when Marshall curled in his second from a freekick 15-minutes from time.

If Watt, the more likely ‘replacement’ for Rhodes, is to succeed then he’s made a positive start with this goal. Oxford’s best chance fell to the free-scoring midfielder Liam Sercombe but ‘keeper Jason Steele turned this away with top goalscorer Kemar Roofe also putting an effort wide.

These were the other fourth round results.

Some interesting results, without (at the moment) too many upsets really as on the whole those expected to go through did go through or at least remain in the competition! Well, I would say anyway.

But without a doubt the stand out result (so far), with them causing an upset to progress, has to be the three-two win for Shrewsbury with the League 1 side beating Championship one Sheffield Wednesday to see them into the next round keep those cup dreams alive.
