Fergie backs Kean

Rovers manager Steve Kean seems to have won a new fan – Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson has spoken ahead of Monday’s clash between his side and Rovers with emphasis on the hard time Rovers fans gave Steve Kean during the very difficult September – December period the club endured.

With the club fans in revolt in 2011 the ire directed towards the Rovers boss has calmed with the guns pointed firmly at Kean’s employers Venky’s for the time being.

This has led to suggestions of potential regret from what many consider to be the greatest manager of all time.

Ferguson told Sky Sports – ‘I`m sure a lot of [fans] are saying to themselves, ‘I wish I hadn`t done that`.

‘Things can change. You have to dig in and not let it get to you.

‘Now no one is talking about protest marches [anymore].

‘He has held his dignity very well and deserves praise from everyone, including his own supporters.

‘He`s shown his mettle in times when it was difficult for him.’

Opening a can of worms there Alex?
