Fielding Extends Rovers Contract

Blackburn Rovers have extended the contract of goalkeeper Frank Fielding, but have also extended his loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers.

The Rovers youngster has agreed a contract that will keep him at Ewood Park until 2010, but we have also agreed to let him stay with Wycombe until the end of the season (including the Play-Off’s if necessary.) The goalkeeper is VERY highly rated at Ewood, and I know that Brad Friedel is very complimentary towards him, which in itself feels you with hope.

During his time with the League Two club Fielding has kept six clean sheets in sixteen appearances and also saved two penalties (Friedel must have taught him this art well!!!) so Wycombe manager Paul Lambert (who calls him an exceptional talent!!!) was very pleased to extend his stay at the club.

Lambert told the Official Wycombe Wanderers Website: “I knew nothing about him when he arrived, but I know plenty about him now.

“I make no apologies for saying that he’s an exceptional talent who will go on to have an outstanding career at the highest level
.”

Meanwhile Rovers have allowed defender Mark King to leave the club, and he has signed for Accrington Stanley.

King has been hounded by two knee injuries during his time at Ewood so was never able to make the step-up into Mark Hughes’ plans and has left the club on a free transfer, signing a contract with the League Two club until the end of the season, he could make his debut this Saturday. Good luck to him.
