Blackburn Rovers reserve goalkeeper Frank Fielding has been called into the full England squad for tomorrow’s friendly against Hungary.
The most astounding thing is that as things stand, Fielding (who has never played a full senior game for Rovers) is Rovers number four choice keeper but number three for his country.
The England under 21 international will be on the substitutes bench along with Watford keeper Scott Loach – after Ben Foster pulled out of the squad today and ironically, club mate Paul Robinson retired from England duty.
I am almost speechless.
Fielding (incredibly) is in the England squad!

I can’t believe I actually wrote this!!!

Hahahahaha, what a joke! What about all the English keepers doing well in the Championship, eh Fabio?
Unbelievable Jeff
wow, robbo did rovers TWO favours now. he’ll be more focused and gave the youth keeper a spot on the bench.
to be fair.. the lad is a top keeper in the making.. have seen him for reserves and a couple of other times.. however.. this is weird..
wow lol….congrats? i guess lol
Outrageous.
I’m not a Blackburn fan and I don’t have the slightest clue who he is.
Very weird, disturbing, scary and downright appalling in the same sentence however well done Frank!
TBF we all asked in England for some new blood and we are getting it!!!
Well done Frankie!! hope he takes his chance to impress.
