Fielding Set For Derby Return??

Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Frank Fielding looks set to leave Ewood Park for another loan spell, with Derby County keen on loaning him again.

Derby manager Nigel Clough sent Fielding back to Ewood earlier in the season after he’d made 10 appearances during two-months on loan at Pride Park, not because he didn’t impress him but because Stephen Bywater was fully fit again and Clough didn’t think it fair to keep two first choice goalkeepers around.

The Rams have injuries to Bywater again and reserve goalkeeper Saul Deeney and had to hand a debut to 19-year-old James Severn on Tuesday night when Bywater was injured so the call has gone out for Fielding again and I’d expect that a return to Derby will happen.

I’ve always been a fan of the 22-year-old, however, the more time that passes and the more first-team action that Fielding gets the more he will want and Paul Robinson (as long as we keep him) is going to be the number one at Ewood for sometime so his chances will be limited with us. Should Fielding agree another loan move, having already spent six loan spells away from Ewood, I think it could be his last and the next more that he makes will be a permanent one. With over 100 first-team appearances under his belt, but none of them with Rovers, I’m starting to fear that we’ll be losing the England U21 International permanently soon??
