According to the Sun, via the Nottingham Post, Connor Mahoney’s proposed transfer to Nottingham Forest could see them face late competition?

The certainty is Mahoney will leave Blackburn. Tony Mowbray said he expected this exit to take him to Nottingham Forest? But it could end up one of the Rovers boss’ old clubs Middlesbrough lure the winger away from Ewood Park.

Middlesbrough boss Garry Monk was reportedly ‘a fan’ of Mahoney’s when at Leeds so could mount a late bid to rival Nottingham Forest, who had seemingly seen off Wolves and Celtic, for his signature.

Reports in the Nottingham Post say Mahoney, 20, had agreed personal terms with Nottingham Forest and has successfully come through a medical with a transfer fee – an agreement is needed to avoid a tribunal – all that’s preventing his switch to the City Ground going through.

Apparently, Mahoney is still keen on this Forest deal despite late Boro interest.
