This forgotten man is Jack Byrne, who came to Blackburn on a season-long loan from Manchester City in the summer but hasn’t had much of a chance to make an impact at Ewood Park.
Byrne came with quite a reputation with his former coach at Man City Patrick Vieira likening him to Manchester United legend, and a player he often battled with, Roy Keane and the Irishman did start the season in the team but he’s not had first-team involvement in almost two-months.
His lack of involvement is something Owen Coyle told the Lancashire Telegraph Byrne himself hasn’t complained about with his lack of impact isn’t a concern to him and doesn’t fear him being recalled by his parent club.
‘It doesn`t give us an issue because Jack Byrne is a very talented player. As much as he`s not been on the field, he`s been in the 18 for many of those games and when that chance comes about again Jack`s got to grab it. To his credit, he`s recognised that Corry Evans and Danny Guthrie have played very well.’
The 18-year-old isn’t the only one who isn’t in the side with Coyle adding the likes of Hope Akpan and ‘one or two others’ would be looking for involvement too but can’t get in ahead of others.
Like West Ham loanee Martin Samuelsen he’s a ‘very talented’ footballer.
You can only select 11 players though and the midfielder, who training with the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of Euro 2016, and others will ‘continue to learn.’
‘When all said and done, you can only have 11 on the field. But we think we have some good young players, some players who will continue to learn.’
After three starts in four-matches to start the Championship season he’s not played since the League Cup defeat against Leeds on 20th September even if he has been in the squad.
