The transfer window closed last week but a new face could still arrive at Ewood Park. Former Swindon and Birmingham defender Paul Caddis is training with the club according to the Birmingham Mail.

Blackburn could offer the free agent a contract until the end of the season should Caddis impress Owen Coyle during this spell training with Rovers.

Caddis came to a mutual agreement with Birmingham ahead of the transfer window to end his contract as the right back wasn’t in Gianfranco Zola’s future plans.

The Scottish defender had actually made only one appearance for Birmingham this season under both Zola and previous Blues boss Gary Rowett, which wasn’t helped by a dislocated shoulder.

Ben Marshall’s eventual departure to Wolves on deadline day does leave Coyle short of right sided options so if the 28 year old can prove his fitness he could make a good addition to the Blackburn squad.

Caddis’ previous experience of battling against Championship relegation could also prove invaluable to Rovers? In fact the once capped Scottish international previously scored in a Birmingham win over Bolton on the final day of the season that kept his former side at this level.
