Former Rovers On The Move

Ironically the exit from Aston Villa of Rudy Gestede to Middlesbrough last week has seen his former Blackburn teammate Jordan Rhodes – who scored so many goals when the pair were both at Ewood Park – linked with an exit from Boro to join Villa.

The Mirror has credited Aston Villa with an interest – Steve Bruce wanted him when he was in charge at Hull but his efforts failed – but has reported Villa have been informed by Middlesbrough they want to recoup the £10m paid to Blackburn for him a year ago.

Having managed just a couple of Premier League appearances for Middlesbrough his chances were limited before Gestede’s arrival at the Riverside Stadium so the 26 year old could be in line to move on himself.

Alan Judge is another former Blackburn player who could be on the move this month having enjoyed much success at Brentford since he joined them in 2014.

Well, his broken leg aside! He sustained that in April and this has kept him out since but the 28 year old is now on his way back but could be on his way out of Griffin Park as his contract is expiring in the summer and Brentford aren’t prepared to lose him on a free.

Judge has been linked with Championship leaders Brighton and 2nd placed Newcastle – who we’ve of course done the double over – by Sky Sports.

Oh, if only Blackburn could bring one – if not both – of these players back to Ewood…
