Former Blackburn Rovers striker Chris Sutton has taken up his first managerial role after being named the new manager of Lincoln City.

The League Two side admit that the appointment of the 36-year-old in succession to Peter Jackson is a calculated gamble, however, this is one that the Lincoln board think was worth taking. Sutton will be assisted by his former Rovers team-mate (and fellow Premiership Title winner with Rovers) Ian Pearce.

A club statement on The Official Lincoln City Website said: “We received over 70 applications for the vacant manager’s post and although this double appointment could be seen as a calculated gamble, the board have every confidence in Chris and Ian and are looking forward to working with them.

“Both Chris and Ian impressed every member of the board with their enthusiasm, ambition and preparation and the decision to appoint them was a unanimous one.

Good luck to Chris and Ian!!
