Mauro Formica has completed his move to Palermo, initially on loan until the end of the season.

Gato has long since made it clear that he has struggled with life in England and with him on a decent wage packet it makes sense to move him on for all parties.

But Rovers boss Michael Appleton has not ruled out a return for the Argentine, however he has admitted that the move is favourable for the player right now.

‘He is going there on loan until the end of the season,’ Appleton told the official site.

‘I think it is important that he gets some football, I think his head wasn’t in the right place at the minute, he has gone through a bit of a tough period with his family over recent months, so I just think he needed something different, a change of environment and a change of culture for him going over to Palermo.

‘Hopefully he can get some football, hopefully he can get some form and obviously we’ll reassess it at the end of the season.’

Best of luck Gato.
