It’s fast approaching the time when players’ future are decided, some will leave Blackburn by choice whereas others will be released. Former Man United man Josh King is one that we do want to keep with managing director Derek Shaw confirming as much.

Shaw’s told the Lancashire Telegraph that talks over a new contract for him to extend his spell at Ewood Park beyond the two-and-a-half-years he’s had with us have been ongoing in recent months but as yet no agreement has been reached.

A contract offer is on the table with him ‘going away to think about it.’

‘We’ve been talking to Josh for several months.

‘He’s recently changed his advisor and at this moment in time, nothing has been concluded. But we are certainly making every inroad to renew Josh King’s contract.

‘Football players don’t have massive careers so you’ve got to respect that he wants to make sure everything is right for himself.

‘We respect that and hopefully, before long, we’ll have some news.’

King himself has told Norwegian TV that, contrary to reports, he hadn’t signed a new contract and that he does have other options.

Rumour has it that the 23-year-old has been offered a three-year deal.
