Blackburn have, in the last hour, announced that forward Franco Di Santo has extended his loan spell from Chelsea until the end of the season.

The deal was thought to have hit a snag over financial incentives but that has appeared to be fairly inaccurate as the extension is now in place.

Di Santo has made a total of fifteen appearances for the Blue and White Army, but has contributed just the one goal (v Burnley so that counts as ten goals anyway).

But it is the nature of his all round showings that have impresssed the manager and with the Rovers fans as well – who he shares somewhat of a special bond with.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti was thought to be considering recalling Di Santo to fill in for Didier Drogba and Saloman Kalou as they went of to play in the ‘conveniently positioned’ African Cup of Nations.

However, he has decided his development will be better served at Rovers – which quite frankly it will be.

I personally am pleased with the news.

How about some goals to go along with that impressive work rate and touch though Franco?
