Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel made his 250th League appearance in Sunday’s match with Tottenham Hotspur.

25 of these League appearances came for Previous club Liverpool during his largely unsuccessful four-year stay at Anfield with the other 225 (so far!) coming with Rovers.

The veteran who shows now signs of easing up in his quality despite being 36-years-old may be in the twilight of his career but he still knows he has to remain at the top of his game like he has in years gone by as others, most notably Jason Brown are waiting in the wings now:

Since I have been here we have had a wealth of good goalkeepers like John Filan, Alan Kelly and Alan Miller,” said Bradders.

Now Jason and Peter are here, so there is always competition but that’s what you need.”

The veteran also confessed that he is still learning the game! He added:

Sometimes when you think you know it all you get bitten on the backside.

This is a very humbling game and you have to remember that.”

It’s a shame that Bradders, who in all honestly was rarely tested couldn’t mark his 250th League game with a clean sheet that would have given Rovers a much needed three points against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. But that’s the way it goes and this was by no means his or anyone else’s fault? maybe the officials aside!
