With YOUR help Vital Blackburn has been trying to determine what have been the best and worst of the Blackburn Rovers 2006-2007 season.

The nominations are still be taken for other Awards, but the Vital Blackburn Awards for 2006-2007 continue to be dished out with

Friedel’s Save of the Season

When asked to simply leave the name of the opponent (and obviously who the save was from) that you feel saw Friedel make his save of the season most felt?

The double saves vs. Arsenal in the 0-0 FA Cup tie should be the Award Winner! So congratulations to Brad for making this double save the best (of MANY!) saves during 2006-2007.

It is fair to say that we went to the Emirates Stadium to defend, and defend we did. Although in all honesty we did this in the main with a fair amount of ease, and it wasn’t until the final fifteen minutes or so that Arsenal exerted any real pressure on the Rovers goal, but when they did Friedel was equal to the task.

The save of the match, the double save (and saves of the season) came with time virtually up.

Thierry Henry managed to make himself some space and shot at goal but Friedel got down well to finger tip the ball away, but it still ran lose across the six-yard box! Justin Hoyte looked odds on to break Rovers hearts but Friedel (showing GREAT agility) sprang up to make himself big to somehow keep out the follow up at the expense of a corner. The rest as they say is history.
