Fulham Speaks….

Before the upcoming game against Fulham on Sunday, Mikey Gamst took time out of his hectic schedule (yeah right)to ask the editor of Vital Fulham some questions about the match and his thoughts on their season.

1) How do you feel the season has gone so far?

After spending close to £25 million in the transfer market I`d suggest not as good as we`d hoped. Indeed, we seem to have carried our wretched form from the end of last season over into this season. With thirteen games played we`ve only won twice and have less points than games played, a recipe for disaster.

However, perhaps we should also point out we`ve fallen victims to the last five minute curse whereby games we were in a good position in have slipped from our grasp. With Bullard, McBride, Cook and Pearce to come back from injury soon perhaps we can look forward to a brighter new year.

2) You have got a bit of a reputation for being an unpredictable side… is this justified?

Unpredictable as in not being able to hold onto a result perhaps? Apart from that we`ve been playing at a reasonable level all season. If the table was calculated on results after eighty minutes I`d hazard a guess we`d be pushing for a European place. In all honesty I don`t think we`ve played bad all that often, just in the odd game but I guess that happens to every club doesn`t it?

3) Who is the player you feel Fulham will fear the most this Sunday?

If Benni McCarthy is in form then he`s the one. He`s a class act and I honestly expected him to move on in the summer, perhaps to a Champions League side. Perhaps we`d better start hoping that it`s a bit cold this weekend and he doesn`t fancy the chill wind blowing off the River Thames.

4) Likewise is there anyone on the Fulham side that Blackburn should be wary of?

Old players often come back to haunt their former teams, therefore I`ll go for Shefki Kuqi! After not being in the picture for several months he`s now flavour of the month and seen as the ideal foil for David Healy (in the absence of Brian McBride) to play off. He scored the winner for Finland at the weekend so how about another against you lot!

5) Where do you see yourself ending up after 38 games?

With the results going the way they are probably in the funny farm tied up in a strait-jacket! No seriously when our injured players get back and with a little tinkering in the transfer market I can see us sitting comfortably in the lower half of the table and safe from the relegation scrap!

6) Finally, can I press you for a prediction?

Seeing as it`s not an away game (we`ve not won away for 14 months now) we`ve got a chance. I`ll go for 2-1 with Kuqi netting the winner.

Thanks very much to Vital Fulham for their co-operation, great answers and a good read.

Mikey.
