Former Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United striker Kevin Gallacher has shared his views on why Rovers manager Mark Hughes WON’T go to Newcastle, also why he SHOULDN’T anyway.

Gallacher, the former Scottish International (who was cruelly robbed of a Premiership winners medal at Ewood Park due to injury) believes that Hughes will not only reject the Newcastle job if it is offered to him, but also believes that he SHOULD if it is anyway as it is a poisoned chalice.

Gallacher told the Lancashire Telegraph: “I DON’T think Mark will go. He’s got plans for Blackburn and I think he’ll want to see them through.

“Yes it would be a step up in terms of the size of the club. But, in terms of playing potential, which Mark has got to be focused on, you just have to look at the squad he’s got at Blackburn and the one he would be inheriting at Newcastle.

“The job is a poisoned chalice to be honest.

“It’s a massive club and it’s bigger from the inside than from when you’re looking in.
Any manager that goes there will get their eyes opened pretty quickly. It’s a very close-knit club and there’s not too many like that in the league.

“If you look at the last six managers, they’ve all be successful, and then they’ve gone to Newcastle and it’s just not worked
.”

I think that Gally has summed things up nicely really hasn’t he!!!
