Blackburn Rovers are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this midweek’s action.

The performance by Sam Gallagher in the two one victory over Nottingham Forest in midweek at Ewood Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Gallagher was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘The second Gallagher to make our Team of Midweek the Southampton loanee made sure the Blackburn fans were singing in the rain at a sodden Ewood Park. The striker raced on to Ben Marshall’s pass for his first goal in the win over Nottingham Forest, and sealed the points by converting Corry Evans’ cross from close range.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Gallagher for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Lawrence Vigouroux (Swindon Town), Daniel Lafferty (Sheffield United), David Wheater (Bolton Wanderers), Luke Chambers (Ipswich Town), Paul Gallagher (Preston North End), Michael Bostwick (Peterborough United), Gary Gardner (Aston Villa), David Cotterill (Birmingham City), Dwight Gayle (Newcastle United), Sam Gallagher (Blackburn Rovers), Matty Taylor (Bristol Rovers).

Manager – Steve Robinson (Oldham Athletic).
