Blackburn Rovers striker Paul Gallagher completed a loan return to Stoke City on Thursday, he will stay with them for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old has returned to the Championship club for a second time, having spent the 2005-2006 season on loan at the Britannia Stadium, where he scored 12 goals in 40 appearances. Gallagher had enjoyed a successful loan spell with Preston North End earlier this season, and they were keen to get him back again but Stoke have got him and their manager Tony Pulis was delighted with the capture.

Pulis told the Official Stoke City website: “He is an absolutely fantastic signing, he has good quality and is very different to what we already have.

“We know him from last time he was here and we know he can score goals
