Wigan Athletic`s new signing Kristofer Haestad has spoken to the English media for the first time following his loan transfer from Stig Inge Bjornebye`s I.K. Start.

You may be wondering what relevance this has for the Rovers fans! Well, embedded in his words is a message regarding Morten Gamst Pedersen`s stance on Blackburn Rovers.

Recently Rovers` pop star left winger has come in for some criticism because of his lacklustre displays and a Prima Dona attitude that has spouted murmurs of discontent and disagreements with influential squad members such as Tugay.

However, following Haestad`s interview for Skysports the Gamst situation has begun to fall into place like a well gelled popstar`s haircut. Haestad told Skysports:

I have been watching the Premiership since I was a little kid, it’s big for me to come down here and finally get the chance to play.

“I’m satisfied with my choice and I look forward to playing for Wigan for the next six months.

“I got a call from him (Pedersen) as I was sitting at The JJB Stadium and just about to sign the contract. He said ‘don’t sign, don’t sign’, but I’m happy with my choice and he thinks it’s fun I’m getting the opportunity to play in the Premiership.

The suggestion here is that Gamst did his utmost to bring his fellow popstar band mate to Ewood Park and coupled with his words earlier in the week claiming, ‘it is fun to be a Blackburn player at the moment,` it seems that reports stating the Norwegian is unhappy at Ewood Park are as far wide of the mark as some of his shooting has been this season.

His plea to one of his closest friends to join him at the club where he plays speaks volumes about his impression of Rovers and his happiness at the club. It also indicates that he has little intention of moving on at the moment.

These words from ‘The Players` will certainly appease a number of Rovers fans who have become disillusioned with the explosive Norwegian`s attitude and performances. One fan in particular, our erudite and esteemed editor and devout Rovers fan, Hughes Da Man, has been quick to retract his doubts about Gamst`s commitment to the club.

In an interview with one of the pioneering editors of Vitalfootball he said:

I`m offering my deepest apologies for doubting MGP’s commitment to the club and maintain the belief that he is one of the most creative members of the squad.

Only time will tell whether or not Gamst and Haestad will get the chance to play club football together, but at the moment it would appear that one of Rovers` gems is in it for the long haul.
