Sas roved the streets, and Glen he found…..

Its interview time baby!!! The man of the moment today is none other then Glen9mullan

Step Up Glen

1)With last season being the worst Prem campaign in a while, what can we take out of the season, and use in next years campagin.

I think the main things to take from the season, are firstly we stayId up, when it looked at times under ince we were dead and buried, i for one began to believe we was gonna go down.
When you look at the injury problems rovers had during the season to key players like reid emerton, dunn and of cruz and the fact we never really replaced bentley i think the lads that had to carry the mantle for keeping us up responded well to bigs sam’s appointment. To be fair we dont have too many world builders, and if you look at some of the players who could be potentially playing championship football next season with the relagated clubs i think we have done well to survive and hopefully we can learn from the experiance and push on next season.

2) What is your highlight of the season?

There hasnt in fairness been too many due to our poor form, I think staying up and having the prospect of playing the dingles next season would be a major thing for me and has got me all too excited for the season ahead. My biggest highlight this year was captaining the rovers soccer aid team and scoring 2 goals. It was great to play on the old hallowed turf and experiance the match atmosphere at ewood from a players perspective. Just finished watching the DVD and i would highly recommend the experiance to anyone who wants to have a go in the future.

3) The lovely transfer window is open, who should we realisticallly sign, and who will leave the club.

Rovers need to spend this summer building for the future, many players have come to a cross roads in there careers and need to move on, obviously Ooijer, Mokeona and the legend that is Tugay have already departed the club, others to follow will be sadly Derbyshire who i really think should be kept, gallacher, rigters, zurab, cruz will probally follow at some point.
On potential players coming in Sam will try and look for one season value and possibly add a couple for the future, players like sean davies have been mentioned and alan smith, although these are not the type of players we as supporters are looking for i really think sam will be looking for a same again season where survival is our priority.
We need a striker a centre midfielder or 2 and a couple of right sided players right back and right winger, perhaps pennant could be an option but i wouldnt be suprised if rovers take bentley on loan til xmas (big call there)

4) Paul Ince. What is your opinion. Did he need more time, will he ever make it as a premier league manager?

I think Pauls attitude was just wrong, he tried to do things his way with absoulutely no regard for the fans or players. His inexperiance in the transfer market though was his main downfall, he never really brought anyone to the club who we can honestly say has made a difference to what we already had. Some would argue andrews had an ok season, but he was not exactly outstanding and a player the opposition would fear. I think the board gave him too much time but admittingly agreed in a round about way that he was the wrong appointment.
I do think ince will be back and get another chance and will go on to be a ok manager as he will learn from his errors but it would take a small club to reignite his career

5) 2009-2010, what can we expect from our Beloved Rovers.

Its gonna be a frustrating season on the pitch as Sam will look to build for the season after, this will be a high risk but a risk which needs to be taken, too many wholesale changes will have the team fighting an up hill battle as it takes time for alot of new players to gel, I think he will tweak the team here and there with a centre midfielder his priority, Alot depends on Sams ability to keep hold of cruz as i do believe him and benni who have never really had too many games together can score enough for us to be ok during the rebuilding time, I think a top 12 finish will looked upon as a successful season providing the team is firing the season after.

Great read matey, cheers for the interview!!!

Where will you be when Sas comes calling!!!
