The Hunter strikes……

The Sas promised to hunt the man they call JT_Daniel down, and he caught him, enjoying dinner with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble and VVS Laxman in sunny India….(Talk about racking up the frequent flyer points)……

Now normally, on Getting to Know, only VBERS (Vital BLackburners) have the privedge of being interviewed by yours truly, however, I think our resident VBER, JT_Daniel, can almost claim to be one of us!

1) Tell us a little about yourself. Who are you, what do you do, and why Chelsea

I’m Nithin, a 3rd year Engineering Undergrad student from India (Major- Mechanical). I’m a Vital Chelsea addict- I’ve racked up 5173 Forum points, so that must give a decent indication of the amount of time I spend here on Vital. I’ve been supporting Chelsea for the past 6 years, right from the when the Mourinho era started. I had been generally watching football (Serie A and the EPL to be exact) without any specific interests in any club for quite some time before that. But Chelsea’s ruthless style of play that season intrigued me. Impenetrable defense, ruthless attack, the ugly, 1-0 wins- All of it fascinated me and I was hooked for life! Didn’t know feck about transfers, though- So I had no idea he had spent 70 mill on players that season!!!

2) Now, whats your soft spot for Blackburn all about. You live on our site, adore Franco Di Santo, and keep coming back! Now dont get me wrong, we are warming to you, but what do you want from us!!!!

Well, since I’m not in England, I don’t have any generation long ties with any club. But I don’t know why, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Rovers. The tough, long ball play, playing style which an Arsenal supporter may call as ‘Ugly’- I find it really appealing! I think football is amazing because of its diversity and I find the physical play appealing. Also, I genuinely liked Sparky (He used to play for Chelsea, you know) and I used to watch the rovers play whenever possible. Also, your history really amazed me and I feel it’s unfair that a team that has achieved so much should be a mid table team. You guys should be on top, fellas! What do I want from you lot? Nothing, just accept me as a part time rovers fan!!! 🙂

And Di Santo’s a kid I desperately want to succeed. I think he’s a really, really great talent and I think Big Sam is the right person to develop him. So forgive me if my supporting him loyally irritates anyone!

3) How do you rate Chelsea’s season so far. Can you fight through the African Cup of Nations and maintain top spot?

We’ve been generally good. We’ve had good wins against the big boys, but have played really badly against Wigan, Villa and City. We’ve been really poor in December, drawing far too many games for anybody’s liking. I think somebody jinxed the whole of December by handing Carlo the Manager of the month award for November! But on the whole, Carlo’s a great manager and is a tactical genius. I think we’ll get through this month without too much problems. We’ve not got that 2 legs of the Carling cup (No thanks to YOU lot! lol) and are playing the likes of Hull etc, which are not so difficult on paper. I think we’ll manage. I definitely hope so!

4) How do you rate Blackburn’s season so far. Where do you think we will finish. If their was one person in our squad you would like at Chelsea, who would it be?

I think the league position does not reflect on the football you lot have been playing! If even 3-4 of those draws would’ve been converted into wins, 8-9th place would’ve been the easily attainable. The problem is Jason Roberts, I think. The midfield is creating plenty of chances, since all your striker attend his academy, they simply can’t score! 🙂 But I think if Di Santo and Kallanic can start getting the goals, you will easily end up in the top 10, possibly in the 8-9th place.
One player whom I’d love to have in our squad will be David Dunn. When he’s fit, he can be deadly and I’d love to see him hit that form more often and possibly earn a call up for the National Team.

5) How do you think we will fare against Aston Villa in the Carling Cup Semi’s, after our triumph against your mob in the quarters. How did you rate our performance that game?

I think you can win! Honestly. Villa park will be a difficult ground to play in, but they will definitely rest their key players in their bid for that CL spot. And about your win against us, though many of us dismiss that loss as ‘Its only the Carling cup’, we’re only fooling ourselves. It was the first cup that Jose won and we desperately wanted to win it again. It was disappointing, but my word, you lot played so well that night! I think that was a deserved win and I hope you’ll go all the way and win the cup!

*6) All bias aside, who will win the EPL, who will get relegated?

I honestly think Chelsea will win it, but United will give us a really tough fight. Arsenal will soon go crap and will fight for that 3rd spot. As for the relegated clubs- Portsmouth, Hull and Wolves, I think.
