Getting to Know is make its off season come back, first up on Sasmans hit list, is his 3 hour delayed buddy, from WA, Australia……

First of all, its good to be back! This segment has been saved up for the offseason, giving us more points of interest and points of discussion. Remember, its you who makes this segment, I just ask the Questions

Step up, Retro!!!!!!

1) Another season has just completed, we Survived, and are moving on with plans for next season….sum up the past season in a paragraph

A lot of fun really. We saw an exciting young manager come in and our beloved team slide down the ladder. Things broke down and as always, Williams made the right move. Big Sam gave us hope and brought a new style to Ewood. The back became solid and up front, the combo of Roberts/McCarthy looked unstoppable. Then everyone got injured, Santa showed his true colours and we were forced to play the Wall, Samba in attack. But Big Sam managed to pull it together, uncovering a gem in Givet and a bit of much needed fire in Diouf, easily reaching the magic 40 mark. Overshadowing our assured safety was the departure of the maestro. A fond farewell to the 38 year old legend, who held together our midfield when all looked lost.

2)The lovely transfer season has started, where do you think we are currently lacking in strength, and given the amount of finances we have, what would be the solution?

Obviously we need a right back (Chimbonda from Spurs anyone?), but i would prefer to see the ageing Emo here when he comes back from injury. We definitely need wingers on either side who can deliver the ball (Lennon/Pennant out of reach?), and a player who can take a decent set piece. Then we need a target man. A tall target, with an accurate head. Someone who has international experience. Someone who has played in Germany at club level. Someone whose last name starts with ‘K’ and rhymes with ‘Dennedy’…….

3) Who is your favourite member of the Ewood Park Squad, and why?

I’ll skip over Grella and Emo and move onto big Chris Samba. The Wall is huge and i love watching him play. He always gets in everything and never stops. Really does a job for the team and when thrown up foward, gives the opposition something to think about. Basically, he works every game, theres never any offfield crap from him and at the end of the day, Chris Samba is a very, very good player.

4) Being a fellow Australian, what is your story in following the Mighty Rovers?

To be honest its not particulary interesting- I was drinking with some colleagues of mine one fine evening and we were watching the Premier League. I figured if i was going to follow the league, i probably needed to pick a team. Blackburn Rovers sounded good, i liked the kit and Emerton played for them. Now i’ve gone from casual viewer to compulsive V-ber…

5) Early predictions for next year?

7th. Grella to stay fit and prove himself, Samba to score 10 and Big Sam to lead us to Europe…

Well said mate, cheers for the interview….

Watch out, what will you be doing when Sas comes knocking

Until Next Time
