Rovers defender Gael Givet has issued a statement to the fans of Blackburn Rovers stating that at no point did he refuse to play for the club.

Givet was a glaring omission from an injury hit side for Saturday’s defeat to Swansea (sorry for making you think of that again), and newspaper reports suggested that it was the player who refuse to don the shirt.

But Givet has called bullshit and has insisted it was Steve Kean who picked the team and made the call after a chat with Gael a few days prior to the match.

Gael clarified in a statement – ‘I wish to make it clear that I have never refused to play for Blackburn Rovers.’

‘It was the manager Steve Kean who decided which players would be selected.’

There has even been suggestions made from Gael and his agent that he would be willing to play for Rovers if they are relegated to the Championship.

Which would be something of a bonus to say the least.
