God at Ewood for 5 more years!

Blackburn skipper Ryan Nelsen has signed a new five-year deal with the club.

The New Zealander has been an absolute revelation since signing for absolutely nothing in January 2006 and this gives the squad a massive boost heading into the start of the campaign.

Last season he was badly disrupted by injury with the player undergoing a major hamstring operation last August and only returned to action in January.

‘I’m delighted for the club and for Ryan,’ Mark Hughes told rovers.co.uk.

‘He’s my captain and will be very influential in helping to shape the progress of the club.’

Now anyone who has even glanced at VitalBlackburn knows what a massive fan I am of the man I dub God (maybe a bit over the top!) but his influence cannot be doubted.

I think we should not also doubt the example he has set by signing a new long term deal, for example…. if one of your best players thinks the club is going places then that can have a knock on effect to other top players i.e. McCarthy.

Good morning and goos news all round.
