Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce believes a hamstring injury that has kept Vinny Grella out of the last two friendlies is not too bad at all.

The Australian is expected back in training at somepoint this week for Vince to crack on with the rest of the pre-season.

Vince has had a shocking injury record so far at Ewood and the knock he picked up at Roma had everyone rolling their eyes again but it is nowhere near as bad as feared.

In other news to be filed under ‘good’ both Brett Emerton and Steven Reid are making excellent progress in their quest to return.

Allardyce, updating the injury statuses on rovers.co.uk said – ‘We had a couple of little injuries with a couple of players who didn´t take part,’

“They are only slight knocks, we are not envisaging that they´ll be any longer than a day or two.

‘We are also hearing good progress on Brett Emerton back at home and Steven Reid is coming along too.’
