Hang on we play football?

With manager searches, inter fan hostility and Global Advisor talk aplenty it is very difficult to remember that we actually play football. Yes, Rovers. Football. Incredible.

Well tonight hosts the sideshow to the main of event of the Blackburn circus as Rovers face Sheffield Wednesday at Ewood Park.

Our boys haven’t won in 4 under caretaker Eric Black but tonight represents the start of a two home game run that should be looked at as a chance to climb the league table.

But Wednesday represent a tough proposition with the pace they have available to them and the Rovers boss refuses to take them lightly.

Black told the official Rovers site – ‘We haven’t won yet, we were relatively close on Saturday but it wasn’t to be, so we need to focus and our impetus has to be to try and win the game without doubt in front of our home support.’

‘I know it won’t be easy, I went to their game on Friday night and I saw a very physical, direct, energetic with a fair splash of ability, a Sheffield Wednesday team who probably should have won the game.

‘But we know that in front of our home crowd we need to win the game, we want to win the game.

‘We feel that we are starting to move in the right direction, we’ve got a system that we think suits the players that we have available.

‘I thought for an hour at Derby we played well I must admit. For an away performance it was decent,

‘I’m not saying we lifted the rafters but for the first hour we were very much in control of the game and looked like we could score a goal, looked very secure and I liked the balance about it.

Despite reasonably good away form the blue and white halves have looked poor at home with two defeats on the bounce contributing to a mid table position which we currently occupy.

A third defeat at Ewood would surely be unthinkable?

Black continued – ‘Now that balance has to shift because we are at home, in front of our home support and we have to take the impetus to win the game.

‘So there may be one or two tweaks within that but with the players that we have available I have to try and get the best system and I feel we are getting close to it.’

‘Looking at the table I would rather be in second or first but we aren’t far off,’ added Black. ‘We’ve had three away games in four, we’ve now got two home games coming up and we’ll try and go and win these games.

‘Hopefully if we do that then the table will look a little bit rosier.’

A manager he may not be but how refreshing is it to have someone at least talk honestly and openly to us?!
