Blackburn Rovers defender Stephane Henchoz is beginning to plan for a future after his playing career.

Many had wondered what had happened to Henchoz, but he is still around at Ewood Park he has just been plagued by injury this season and has (I must confess I didn’t know this myself!!!) had two operations on his knee already this season, but he is on the verge of a comeback and hopes to get some reserve matches under his belt before the end of the season.

The former Switzerland International is out of contract in the summer, and is highly unlikely to be offered a new contract (but you never know), however, Hedgehog is already planning for a future when his playing days do end, as he will be starting working towards his coaching badges next week as he does quite like the idea of going into management.

Henchoz told BBC Your Game: “I’ve been injured since September, (I’ve had) two operations and it did not go well at all.

“I’m hoping to be back in first-team training next week, and then it’s nearly the end of the season so I will try to get back and play a few reserve games in April and then see what happens.

“But I’m starting a coaching badge next week with some lads at Blackburn, but that takes a couple of years to do that. Then maybe, if the opportunity comes, why not try management?
