Rovers are making brisk progress in their pursuit of striking reinforcement after German club Hoffenheim confirmed that they have given Rovers chiefs the go ahead to speak to their forward Vedad Ibisevic.

The Ibisevic link has been in the public domain now for a few weeks but his transfer has become a very tangible possibility after Rovers asked permission to speak to the player.

‘Blackburn Rovers are keen on Vedad Ibisevic, the chances to see him move are fifty-fifty,’ Hoffenheim general manager Ernst Tanner said to Sky Sports.

‘We have still to agree a transfer fee, anyway they have been asking us on the allowance to pick up contract negotiations with the player.’

The fee is rumoured to be around the £3.5 million mark and if completed would mark Rovers sixth summer signing (after the George John transfer completion) with Simon Vukcevic, Radosav Petrovic, David Goodwillie and Bruno Ribeiro already in the bag.

For those wondering, Myles Anderson doesn’t count.
