Mark Hughes has told David Bentley to forget about a move from Ewood Park after warning the England star that he has no escape route from Ewood Park.

Bentley, 23, is being touted for a big money move to Liverpool and Chelsea after establishing himself in Fabio Capello’s England squad in recent months, after a few scandlalous months where he wasn’t even looked at.

The former Arsenal midfielder, set to face Portsmouth at Fratton Park tomorrow, inked a new four-year deal with Blackburn less than 12 months ago.

Hughes, speaking to skysportsnews, said: ‘We don’t have to sell David Bentley and we aren’t looking to sell him.

‘The speculation happens every year with our better players, but if you look back, not many have ultimately been allowed to go.

‘That’s because we know we will be weakened as a consequence, so we are not looking to sell any of our major players and I don’t expect it to happen.

‘When Craig Bellamy left us for Liverpool two years ago, that was something that we couldn’t do anything about. If there hadn’t been a clause in his contract, he would possibly still be here.

‘But when we have a strong hand and there is no onus on us to generate cash, then we don’t have to do it at the end of the day.

‘David Bentley has a good contract here and there is good length on that contract, so we don’t have to sell.’

Too right Mr.Hughes, I think we agree we’d rather have David than the money.
