Although Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes is baffled by our inability to beat West Ham United at Upton Park he believes that our defeat isn’t yet terminal for our season.

The failure to beat West Ham at Upton Park continued (it’s now 14-years since we last beat the Hammers at Upton) as we lost AGAIN today 2-1, something that Hughes can’t explain, or understand.

Hughes told Sky Sports News: “We seem to have a problem, for whatever reason, whenever we come here.

“West Ham seem to be our bogey team and it has happened again. We can’t quite put our finger on the reason why that seems to happen.

“But probably today it is a situation that we didn’t quite have enough drive in our play when we needed to ask a lot more questions of West Ham.

“In the first half there was a little bit of apprehension about the place and we should have capitalised on that
.”

Despite taking the lead through Roque Santa Cruz, a goal from Dean Ashton equalised before half time, then Hammers debutant Freddie Sears scored the winner. Even after this defeat Sparky is refusing to give up on the European charge, as he feels this will still go until the end of the season and the impact this defeat will have WILL NOT be known until the season does indeed end.

He added: “We have still got games to play and games that we feel we can win.

“Maybe the damage hasn’t been as key as possibly it could have been, but we will have to wait and see.

“It is only at the end of the season when we will see if this defeat has a real impact on us
.”

  • It’s a MASSIVE defeat, Sparky is right that we will not fully know the impact until the end of the season, but it’s a big one!!!
There are however A LOT of points still to play for, but victory over Wigan really MUST happen.

  • Arsenals Bogey team are Middlesbourgh, and Chelsea hated us going to Stanford bridge upuntil 2 seasons ago…

It happens move on and keep trying thats all we ask… give it a shot!

  • aaaaaarrrgghhh!!!!!!! sooooo frustrating!!!!!!!!!!! west ham fans hit the nail on the head singing, ‘1-0, and you ******ed it up!’

  • After some simmering off time, if we CAN finish above Aston Villa and Manchester City we’ll still make the Intertoto Cup, and we’re ONLY three points behind Villa!!!

  • ozanne park rangers – We’re NOT going to finish outside the top 10, that’s a near certainty WHATEVER happens!!!

  • I predicted at the beginning of the season that West Ham would do the double over us…It something to do with the Claret and Blue, I’m sure of it…However, our run in is not that bad, and in theory, we should pick up more points than we should drop…With Villa on the drop also, it is more than possible we will finish above them, and I would suggest Portsmouth our the team we need to finish above, unless they haven’t gone for the intertoto, then, in theory, we should be alright…In theory…

  • we need europe so badly ! imagine what will be floating around bentley and santa cruz head if we dont get there! like sparky said europe is ther only springboard we have to get more higher reputable players! roberts goes too much to the wings and should constantly stay in the middle!
