Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes was delighted with our 2-1 win over Derby County on Sunday afternoon.

After dominating the match Rovers fell behind to a goal from Matt Oakley, then after a penalty was awarded Steve Howard was given a golden opportunity to virtually wrap up the points before half time but he saw his penalty saved by Brad Friedel. Less than two minutes later we were level through ANOTHER Roque Santa Cruz goal, then moments after that David Bentley scored what proved to be the winner, all of this left Mark Hughes very happy.

Hughes told Sky Sports: “There was shades of the last few games but once again we have shown great character, a great response from us and we got into the lead for the first time for many weeks and I think in the end that relaxed us and enabled us to see the game out.

“We had a number of chances and could have finished it off earlier but there is always a threat if they hit a long ball in the box and until the whistle goes you are never sure but we are delighted with that win
