Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has made it clear that he DOES want to pick up some new signings this month.

So far the transfer activity at Ewood Park has been quiet, well in as much as the only players involved in any movement have been going out of the exit gates. Rovers have been linked with several players but as yet nothing has happened but Hughes has expressed his aim to buy, and sooner rather than later.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “We are in the market, we are looking for players and if we can do something sooner rather than later, then that settles everybody down.

“It does get harder to find the right players. The quality that is needed now to improve my squad and my team is exceptionally high. Those players don’t normally come onto the market in the January transfer window
.”

With the often over inflated prices involved, with funds limited to Sparky this makes his job even harder when it comes to new signings so we can’t compete with others in that respect but he will keep looking and hopes to bring players in to help carry on the season which despite a few ups and downs is going along very nicely.

He added: “When you look at some of the prices that have been paid in the January window, we can’t compete with that price.

“But we keep going. We are doing exceptionally well at the moment and we are pleased with our form and our position. There are a lot of games to play and a lot to look ahead for
.”
