Rovers boss Mark Hughes has again suggested he would like to return to Old Trafford in the future as the clubs Manager. No need to worry though Rovers fans as this is a long standing ambition, and one that is all being well still sometime away yet as Hughes still have plenty to achieve at Ewood Park.

A return to Old Trafford one day as the Manchester United Manager is one of the worst kept secrets surrounding Mark Hughes. Speaking in the Daily Mirror Hughes reiterated his desire to return one day

I’ve always said that I would love to manage one of the clubs I played for during my career.’

Hughes began his career at Old Trafford in 1980, but would have to wait three years for his first team debut. A Manchester United career would span 15 years, broken only by a brief European venture between 1986 and 1988. A £2 million move to Barcelona in 1986 wouldn’t work out so a loan move to Bayern Munich would follow. 1988 would see his return to Old Trafford however.

More often than not, managers get linked with their former clubs. But at the moment, the most important thing for me is to continue the work I’m doing at Blackburn and focus on that job.‘ would also be added by Sparky.

So although a United return is a very strong possibility, Hughes’ exploits with Wales and current fantastic work with Rovers have only increased his marketability, it will hopefully not be happening for some time yet.
