Blackburn Rovers striker Paul Gallagher has returned to Ewood Park after a successful loan spell with Preston North End. A move away this month has been mooted, but Rovers manager Mark Hughes insists he wants to keep him.

When Hughes let him leave for this (latest) loan spell it was ALWAYS with the condition that he would return in the New Year (as he has) but this hasn’t stopped clubs (including Preston) showing an interest in him but Hughes remains adamant that he wants to keep Gallagher here as he is a great admirer of his, and will ONLY sell him if it is in the best interests of Rovers.

Hughes told The Lancashire Evening Telegraph: “I’ve got a lot of time for Gally because I’ve got great admiration for the skill and technical ability that he has got.

“I don’t really want to allow that out of the club unless it suits my plans, and I’m able to look at situations that will benefit the club.

“So we are not really looking at the situation regarding Paul as yet, but the window is open so who knows what might happen
.”

It is VERY hard to see where Gally’s chance will come, so as much as it would be good to keep him, in the long-term I really can’t see that he will be here?!?!
