Blackburn Rovers might have been beaten by Chelsea (again!) on Sunday but Rovers manager Mark Hughes is refusing to be downcast.

Rovers had chances against Chelsea (but didn’t work the goalkeepers enough, both of them if truth be known) and put in a MUCH better performance than we have seen in recent weeks but we were still beaten by Joe Cole’s goal midway through the first half. Despite our best efforts we couldn’t get anything, and even after defeat Hughes was happy with the performance and is taking the positives from it.

Hughes told Sky Sports: “I think in the first half we created a good few chances and on another day against lesser opposition they would have gone in for us.

“In the second half we were trying to unlock the door but it is very difficult to draw a Chelsea team out of their defensive positions.

“I thought we had a great deal of positives today. Our play, given the confidence we have lacked on occasions, was good.

“We have come up against one of the top sides in the country and we have done okay
.”
